From 1907 to 1912 Charles R. Childs produced over 5,400 individual views of Chicago for use as picture postcards.

The first volume of Charles R. Childs' Chicago features the Near South Side and Douglas communities. A prolific photographer during the postcard craze of the early 20th Century, Childs captured Chicago's rich architectural heritage in rare neighborhood views from a bygone era of Chicago's history.
